Tramín Orange 2022

100% Gewürztraminer

The wine was produced using an ancient method of white wine production. The same process as with red wines was used, where the grapes underwent fermentation for 15 days along with their skins, without the addition of yeast. The grapes were harvested from the Kalvária vineyard, a 10-year-old vineyard under organic farming conditions, with a sugar content of 21.50 NM°. A 15-day maceration on the skins, spontaneous fermentation, and the wine matured for 9 months on fine sediment in used barriques.

The wine was made using a traditional method without the use of selected yeasts, enzymes, or other additives. It was neither clarified nor filtered. Due to minimal sulfite content, the wine is suitable even for people sensitive to sulfur dioxide, with a total sulfur content of 26 mg/l.

CHARACTERISTICS

A beloved Traminer in the traditional orange variation of the Kasnyik brothers. The strength and expressiveness of Traminer are only slightly subdued by the chosen winemaking approach. It’s not excessively focused on the grape skins; Traminer’s power dominates, and the typical varietal character is clearly discernible. It displays a delicately veiled straw-yellow color. The typical muscat note is evident from the first inhalation. Medium-full body, excellently integrated acidity, with a subtle touch of tannins enhancing the structure. A pronounced sweeter aroma with tones of rose petals, dried apricot, and orange zest, along with tea infusions and spices. The taste is dry, fruity, with delicate tannins, and excellent drinkability. An unconventional yet exceptionally intriguing and impactful orange Traminer!

Our wine must be stable, without faults, drinkable, enjoyable and above all: we must like it, otherwise it will not leave our cellar.

Naboso, a project by the couple Nadja and Andrej in the Slovak town of Svätý Jur, is a 5 ha vineyard on the western foothills of the Carpathians, near the Austrian border, their vineyards feature Welschriesling, Traminer, Blaufränkisch, Grüner Veltliner, and a touch of Müller Thurgau, thriving on sandy granite soils.

Naboso follows low-intervention practices in both the vineyard and cellar. With Andrej’s 10 years of winemaking experience and Nadja’s German roots, combined with patience and gentle aging, they produce stable, flawless, and delicious wines.

Cellar work is precise, utilizing gravity for must transfer to barrels. The wines, aged for about 3 years, include whites with extended maceration and reds matured in used oak and acacia barrels, bottled unfiltered. A minimal amount of sulfur is added judiciously before bottling.

Described as supple, energetic, and ever-evolving, Naboso’s natural wines reflect the character of the region. The couple takes pride in creating great wine, with each bottle leaving their cellar meant to excite and delight.
