Traminer (25%), Chardonnay (20%), Sauvignon blanc (35%), Feteasca regala (20%)

The grapes are harvested from a vineyard in Novej Vieska in the Nagyhegy hunting area. The vineyard is managed under certified organic conditions and is adjacent to the protected natural reserve of Drieňová hora (Cherry Hill). The name of the wine is a reference to the ancient name of the village Nová Vieska, dating back to the 13th century.

Tramin and Chardonnay are macerated on the skins, while Pesecká leánka and Sauvignon Blanc undergo a 2-day maceration on the skins. Each variety is vinified separately, and then the wines are blended together before being bottled. The production follows traditional methods without the use of selected yeasts, enzymes, or other additives. The total sulfur content is kept below 25 mg/l.

CHARACTERISTICS

The chosen form of vinification dominates in this wine. Forget about varietal characteristics and preconceived schemes; surrender yourself to the pleasure of the positive energy of the excellent terroir of Nove Viesky. It has a fuller straw-yellow color with a subtle shade. Despite the skin maceration, the aroma gradually opens up in a very delicate manner, with a dominance of ripe yellow apple and pear, green tones, and a touch of lees. It is medium-bodied, dry in the mouth, wonderfully fresh, and juicy. Citrus fruits, white fruits, and lees accentuate the structure. An excellent piece packed with a burst of energy!

Andráš Mátyás

Mátyás Pincészet, a family-run winery founded in 2003, is nestled in the charming village of Nová Vieska – Kisújfalu, in the heart of the South Slovak wine-growing region. Spanning over 12 hectares of vineyards, they grow a diverse range of grape varieties including Feteasca regala, Sauvignon blanc, Traminer, Welschriesling, Pinot blanc, Chardonnay, Riesling, Pinot noir, Blaufränkisch, and Dunaj.

Their vineyards, located on the southwestern slopes of Drieňová hora in Nová Vieska, benefit from a unique location, only 5 kilometers away from the Danube river. This allows for a steady flow of fresh, healthy air throughout the year, which supports the biological protection of plants.

The soils of their ropes consist of limestone, sandstone, loess, and brown forest soils. The thin top layer of soil forces the roots to delve deeper into the earth, producing grapes with a unique terroir character.

Mátyás Pincészet is proud to be organically certified and practice biodynamic elements in their vineyards. They use only natural yeasts and old oak barrels in the cellar for aging, along with minimal amounts of sulfur during bottling. Their work philosophy is to achieve a harmonious balance between nature and the universe.
