60% Alibernet, 20% Dunaj, 20% Blauer Portugieser.
Grapes harvested from ecologically managed, certified vineyards. Vinification of each variety separately in neutral oak barrels. Spontaneous fermentation for 14 days in open vats, manual stirring. Alibernet vintage 2021 aged for 15 months in 220-liter oak barrels, then blended with wines from the 2022 vintage – Alibernet, Dunaj, and Blauer Portugieser. Unclarified, unfiltered, bottled by gravity, produced using traditional methods without the use of enzymes and other additives. No sulfur was used at any stage of the production process during vinification, with a total natural sulfur dioxide content of 54 mg/l.
The wine is sealed with an unconventional “beer” crown cap. This relates to the absence of added sulfur and the subsequent preservation of fruity freshness. The crown cap prevents access to even minimal amounts of air and protects the wine from micro oxidation. Thus, Fred #10 maintains its original freshness and aromatic richness.
CHARACTERISTICS
Here we have a new, celebratory tenth edition of Fred. In the beginning, with the first edition, we started with Alibernet 2016 and Dunaj 2017 in a ratio of 60/40. The third edition added Blauer Portugieser, and this varietal composition has been preserved. Increasing the proportion of Alibernet and Portugal at the expense of Dunaj has only benefited the wine; Fred seems to have come alive. In the tenth edition, the taste is based on the structure of the longer-aged Alibernet, the fruitiness of Dunaj, and the youthful freshness of Blauer Portugieser. Vibrant, full, dark-red, opaque color. Very fresh fruity aroma, dominated by ripe red fruits, hints of forest berries, spices, and earthy minerality. In the mouth, it is dry, medium-full, excellently fresh and juicy, with fine chewable tannins, and superbly integrated acidity. Once again, a great piece with outstanding drinkability!
